Step 9: Exchange contracts

The exchange of contracts will be handled by your solicitor.

Exchange of contracts is a milestone within the home buying process.

The exchange takes place by the two solicitors acting for the you the purchaser and Pocket (the seller in the event of new build homes), after their preliminary work has been completed to the satisfaction of both parties.

It is a crucial stage in the process as it is the point of no return! At exchange the buyer legally commits to buy and the seller legally commits to sell.
