Privacy Notice

This privacy notice tells you about the information we collect from you when as a Pocket home owner. In collecting this information, we are acting as a data controller and, by law, we are required to provide you with information about us, about why and how we use your data, and about the rights you have over your data.

To have become a Pocket home owner you will have already registered for a Pocket Account and gone through the purchase process, as such both the ‘Privacy Notice – My Pocket User’ will apply to you. You should read that policy in addition to this one.

Who are we?

We are not required to have a data protection officer, so any enquiries about our use of your personal data should be addressed to the contact details above.

What personal data do we collect?

When you become a Pocket home owner we will already have some of your data and will continue to hold that data in accordance with the Privacy Notice – My Pocket User’. In addition to that information once a year we will ask you to provide written evidence (satisfactory to Pocket) to prove that you are in residence at your Pocket home.

Why do we collect this information?

We will need evidence you are in residence at your Pocket home to comply with our obligations to the Local Authority and under our planning obligations. This information is required under your lease and is therefore a contractual obligation which you cannot opt out of.

We will already have other data for you which we will use to send you ‘housekeeping’ emails regarding your Pocket Account. We may send you other emails promoting specific affordable homes and/or providers of affordable homes and we may send you our newsletter, these promotional emails are entirely optional and you can opt out at any time (please see below ‘Your rights over your information’ for opt out details).

What do we do with your information?

Your information is stored safely in our database which is based in the EU.

We do not use the information you provide to make any automated decisions that might affect you.

The confirmation of residency is used by us to confirm that you are resident in your Pocket home. We confirm this to the Local Authority, but we do no share any of the evidence you have provided, we just confirm that we are satisfied you are resident.

How long do we keep your information for?

Your confirmation of residency information will be destroyed within 90 days of the conclusion of Pocket's Annual Verification Process.

Your other information is kept for as long as you continue to own a Pocket home. When you sell your home you can request that your account is deleted or you may choose to keep it to stay informed of future developments, however if your account has not been accessed for over 3 years we reserve the right to remove your account.

Your rights over your information

By law, you can ask us what information we hold about you, and you can ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, you are also able to amend or keep your information up to date in your account.

You can also ask us to give you a copy of the information and to stop using your information for a period of time if you believe we are not doing so lawfully.
