Osier Way E10 in Leyton was Pocket’s largest affordable housing scheme to date. I was delivered in 2023. A mix of 197 one, two and three bedroom affordable homes were delivered for sale and rent in partnership with Waltham Forest Council.
The project was brought to life by Waugh Thistleton Architects. Featuring varying heights and facades of grey and terracotta brickwork, with contrasting mortar and metalwork. The five buildings at Osier Way form a complementary, distinctive group.
Three roof terraces were carefully landscaped to make the most of the outside space, and one included a play space for children. Most impressive were the 13 different amenity rooms, each individually designed for a different purpose — from workouts and games of Connect Four to a quiet space for relaxation and contemplation. There is so much more for residents to enjoy outside their affordable homes in Leyton.
20 of the two-bedroom homes were built to wheelchair adaptable standards. Sustainability was also core to the design, with triple and double-glazed windows, energy efficient lighting, water saving technology and sustainable timber used in the kitchens.
